Hydraulic Shop Press Machines - H frame & C frame
If you
need to press fit new bearings in or force old bearings out, you will
like the hydraulic power of a shop press. They are also used for straightening
or bending metal and can even power a die set. These machines come in
different types. Manual, with hand pump, has spring return. Pneumatic
using a air driven hydraulic pump is available in single acting (downward)
with spring return (upward) or double acting (air powered down and up).
Elecdraulic is available in single acting or double acting and works
similar to pneumatic but uses an electric motor to power the pump and
is more accurate than air driven. Scroll further down to see our Dake
and HMI C-frame type presses. At the bottom of this webpage we show
a Brake Press Tool that can be used with almost any hydraulic shop press.
Hydraulic presses use a pump to move hydraulic oil into the top of the cylinder to increase pressure, which moves the ram down. These machine can be purchased in different size capacities. These capacities are measured in tons. The pump can be either manually, electrically or air powered. Hydraulic presses can be used to press or pull bearings (pulling can only be done if press is double action), flatten material, bending material, punching holes, and some presses are for special uses such as pressing forklift tires on or off hubs. These procedures are done by placing the workpiece on the table of the press, aligning the ram with the location on the workpiece where the procedure needs to be done and placing the ram into motion (manually, electrically, or air) and the procedure is accomplished. There are different styles of hydraulic presses such as; H-Frame style which resembles the letter "H" in the way the frame is shaped, there are moveable table presses which make it easier to load and unload heavy workpieces, there are C-frame presses in which the frame resembles the shape of the letter "C", and some special designed ones, although the most common style is the H-Frame.
