Made in USA. These hardened Punch & Die Sets are made to fit your Edwards machine.
They are shipped with a matching die having 1/32" clearance over the punch unless you special order with a custom clearance at extra cost. Extra clearance may be needed for plate thicker than 1/2 inch. Less clearance may be needed for very thin sheet metal.
We normally recommend the following clearance hole sizes for common size American bolts - 5/16 for a 1/4 inch screw, 3/8 for a 5/16" screw, and 7/16 for 3/8 bolts and 9/16 for 1/2 bolts, 11/16 for 5/8 bolts, 13/16 for 3/4 bolts, 1-1/16 for 1" bolts. When you use bolts larger than 1 inch, you may want to increase your clearance hole sizes to 1/8" extra instead of 1/16". This will insure that a bolt easily fits through 2 matching bolt holes. If punching holes in stainless steel or stubborn A36 steel plate you may want to spray some oil before you punch the hole. This will help your punches stay sharp longer.

Want to know how to keep your punches sharp longer? Spray oil on the spot before you punch the hole. This will slow down how fast the punch gets dull which is even more important when punching holes in stainless steel or 2024-T6, 7075-T3 aluminum.

Normally the punches will get dull faster than the die, which is why you should consider buying more punches than dies when you are planning a big hole punching job.
